Interesting article on eyewitness identification. I don’t think there is any way to fix the ‘root cause’ of the problem – it’s just how our brains work. Hopefully we can do an adequate job of mitigating the problem through new identification processes and procedures, and getting juries to understand that eyewitness testimony is not as infallible and condemning as has always been thought.
