This from the Spring 2013 issue of the Northwestern University alumni magazine, “Northwestern.”
“Northwestern’s Center on Wrongful Convictions established the first project in the United States to identify and rectify wrongful convictions of women. CWC leaders developed the Women’s Project, because women face unique challenges when fighting a wrongful conviction.
“There is typically no DNA evidence in cases with female defendants, making their convictions harder to fight.” said Rob Warden, executive director of the CWC. “Sometimes there was not even a crime at all.”
In addition to representation of selected clients, project leaders also plan to monitor potential cases of wrongfully convicted women across the country, and educate the public about this issue.”

Anatomy of a false allegation and wrongful conviction case in Maricopa County, Arizona: Courtney Bisbee, a successful divorced mother of a 4 year old daughter, new hire school nurse and attending night school for her Masters to teach early elementary and special ed.
Courtney Bisbee’s journey through Hell in Arizona began on February 11, 2004 after “Lawsuit Hell: How the Fear of Litigation is Paralyzing Our Professions” – Newsweek December 15, 2003 was published. Follow the money.
Newsweek Cover December 15, 2003: “Lawsuit Hell: How the Fear of Litigation is Paralyzing Our Professions”, 11 page report featured categories: medical professionals, religious leaders, teachers, coaches, daycare workers, law enforcement and more. Cases featured: Catholic Priest sex scandal, Michael Jackson, Jon Benet Ramsey, Kobe Bryant, etc. Following the Catholic Priest sex scandal, more categories opened up to sue institutions for $$$’s.

Background: 2003 Presidential Campaign run-up to 2004 Presidential Election. Child molest cases used for political gain. Her case crosses all courts; Family Court: child custody / child support, Criminal Court, Civil Court, Probate Court where the money goes to the accuser.
Read the Newsweek Special report: The roadmap for the unscrupulous, on how to file a false allegation against an institution or professional for financial gain and receive nothing but a misdemeanor. Michael Jackson’s case — with the mother / son grifters — was in the 24/7 media. Courtney’s — a “copy-cat” case? Politicians get elected, lawyers get obscenely rich and the legal and prison system “grows” into a BILLION $$$’s industry.
How many innocent lives were destroyed by unscrupulous people who read this Newsweek special that was in every public place, banks, auto dealerships, offices, etc.?
On February 11, 2004, Courtney Bisbee, was SWAT team / Scottsdale PD arrested (without an arrest warrant) at her in the quiet upscale family neighborhood of McDowell Mountain Ranch. All those responsible for Courtney’s wrongful conviction had financial or career gain. Courtney was convicted and sentenced under recently disbarred former Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas (who ran in the GOP primary for state attorney general and lost to AG Tom Horne) and Thomas chief “charging” prosecutor, ex-DCA Lisa Aubuchon, who was also disbarred in April 2012.
Using “high-profile” labeling for Courtney took away her presumption of innocence for an alleged crime that was non-violent. Lawyers / prosecutors became judges using “high-profile” cases for “career points”; incompetent Scottsdale detective failed to follow established protocol — the Multidisciplinary Protocol for the Investigation of Child Abuse developed by the Interagency Council – Maricopa County Children’s Justice Project, created July 1995, Revised July 1999, September 2003, and June 2004 — Signed by then Governor Janet Napolitano, Maricopa County Attorney Richard Romley, Attorney General Terry Goddard, Scottsdale Police Chief Alan Rodbell, Sheriff Arpaio, Child Protective Services, Jack Harris, Acting Phoenix Chief of Police, among others. (link attached). The Scottsdale detective was later moved to another position.
New evidence – proof of innocence and a scam for money emerged in 2006 in a Civil Court deposition. Exculpatory evidence emerged. People ask why the new evidence and exculpatory evidence has never been heard in an Arizona Court? They say if this can happen to Courtney, it can happen to anyone. They ask what does this say about Arizona’s justice system?
Father and older brother (prosecution’s star witness) of accuser created a petition for Courtney Bisbee, December 2011, Petition | Help Free an Innocent Woman | Change.org, now approaching 40,000 signatures. Sent to the President of the United States, Arizona Governor, Arizona AG, Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery, who have all been informed but have chosen to ignore the public request.
